Get ready for some fun for everyone at the first ever PICL Family Camp!
We’re not planning programming, but we are providing a place for you to just come out, camp, hang out, and enjoy a weekend in one of PA’s incredible riding spots, Michaux State Forest, with the great ammenities of Pine Grove Furnace State Park right at hand.
For the first 50 who register, get yourself a free place to set up your family’s tents in our group tenting area and hang out with other folks from the league. Pine Grove Furnace State Park provides a wealth of activities for the whole family, and you can pick and choose what is right for your tribe! Available activities include: trail rides, hikes, crafts, camp fires, swimming, The Appalachian Trail Museum, canoeing/kayaking, orientiering, and more!
The surrounding Michaux State Forest hosts one of the longest running mountain bike events in PA each spring, the Ironmasters Classic which is an event that many of your league’s coaches and staff have participated in over the last 30 years! (Maybe some of them will even regale you with tales of their glory days in Michaux around the campfire…) The riding in Michaux ranges from a rail trail through the park to some of the most rocky, technical trails you’ll find anywhere. #PARocks rings true here! There is a great mix of trails and gravel roads to explore and you’re sure to find some folks looking to explore them with you. Join us!
Learn about Pine Grove Furnace State Park here.
There are a few things to keep in mind. This is a state park and so there is NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED! There are also no pets, RVs or anything but tents allowed in the group tenting area. Group tenting is primitive. If you wish to bring a pet or require electricity or ADA accommodations, you will need to reserve a spot within the Pine Grove Furnace Campground here. If registration fills and you’d still like to come out for the fun, pick up one of the PGF spots!
And, here’s the gist of Family Camp going forward: PICL will pick up the cost of a group campsite in a great riding spot around PA each spring or summer as a way for us to all get together, enjoy each others company, explore new places, and meet new people. These are not NICA-sanctioned, but they are for anyone in NICA to enjoy.
