We are super excited to find a new partner here in PA in g4 Productions and their brand new Rock-N-Road Gravel Series event! This Rock-N-Road event is based from one of PA’s most storied cycling spots, Trexlertown, PA, the home of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, known around the world as “The Velodrome.” T-town has been the launching pad for PA Olympians, National Champions, and riders of all levels many times over! In fact, PICL’s own Mia Deye, of the Twin Valley Team has fallen in love with “the track” and is just back from her first track National Championships with some metal in hand! – We hope to have more from Mia about that experience soon.
One of cycling’s “monuments” – perhaps the most famous one of them all – is an event called Paris-Roubaix which has seen the titans of cycling circle Roubaix’s velodrome at the end of this annual spring event. Joining g4 for their event is road cycling legend and Paris-Roubaix champion, Andrea Tafi, right here in eastern, PA! He’s joined by, among others, the incredible Laura Van Gilder, one of the winningest US cyclists in history, and Bobby Lea, PA’s three-time track Olympian!
g4’s leadership has an amazing story in cycling too with CEO Robin Morton an inductee in the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame with over 35 years of experience organizing world class competitive cycling events, Robin was the first female Team Director in the sport of professional cycling too! She has organized and managed professional cycling teams that have competed throughout Europe and North and South America. She also served as the Assistant Competition Manager for the cycling events for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Huge thanks to our friend and former professional racer, coach, and founder of the Cadence Cycling Foundation, Ryan Oelkers, for so strongly believing in what we are doing across PA that he was not only instrumental in pulling these pieces together, but will be supporting the league as a member of our newly developed advisory board! Huge thanks to g4, Robin, Ryan, Andrea Tafi, and all the rest for this support of the PA League! The official press release follows, look for more information coming soon about how you might get involved and have a chance to meet and ride with some of these fantastic cyclists!
