We build strong minds, bodies, character, and communities through cycling.
Every youth is empowered to be part of a thriving and engaged cycling community.
NICA’s Mid-Atlantic Region Adventure Summer Day Camp; a new event where the goal is positive youth development and ultimately more kids on bikes. NICA uses mountain biking to inspire healthy lifestyles, build strong communities, and teach respect for the environment.
This event is designed to introduce participants of every skill level and background to the positive benefits of mountain biking, and as a fun and healthy way to spend a weekend enjoying the beauty of the Raystown Lake region.
Adventure Summer Day Camp will attract a wide range of participants from neighboring NICA leagues, including Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia. Those engaged with the league and paying to participate will be our student athletes (6th-12th graders). Additional attendees will be their accompanying coaches and families. 100-300 paid participants are expected, with a total attendance of 1000-1500 in 2019.
We are stoked by the opportunity to partner with the Army Corp of Engineers and Friends of Raystown to create a new youth development summer day camp; a weekend full of cycling events that will highlight the beauty and amenities of the Raystown Lake region.
The main attraction will be the youth development activities that include mountain bike rides (scavenger hunts, bike checkpoints, puzzle rides), bike skills clinics (utilizing the skills park), and off the bike games. We will also be hosting smaller events throughout the weekend, such as a bike movie, map reading and orienteering, fix-a-flat workshops/races, first aid course, coaches on the bike skills class, and live entertainment on Saturday evening. In addition, we are accepting partners to offer free events/programs to our families and attendee that are not registered with the league.
Please see the attached Draft List of Events.
