  • Want to have a fun way to cool off after a long day of biking? GRiT is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Water Balloon Fight at Penn College of Technology on the afternoon of Saturday, September 6th following the finish of Middle School Awards.

Fight with your teammates against racers from all across the state in this action-packed game of skill and strategy! This competitive fundraising event will help to raise money for GRiT’s future events and the She Sends Foundation, as well as provide a new and exciting activity for all racers!

    Event Details

Participants will begin separated by team, and when the countdown begins, all racers can move around the field to find their targets. Only two balloons can be held by each player at one given time, and head shots are strongly discouraged. Furthermore, while this activity is sponsored and coordinated by GRiT, all racers can participate!

    How Can You Participate?

First, each team MUST bring their own bucket to participate. The deadline for buckets to be at the GRiT tent is NOON. Each racer will get one water balloon initially on the day of the event. From there, money donated by teams will be collected at the GRiT tent, and extra balloons ($5 will give 2 extra balloons) will be given to the respective teams. The deadline for fundraising is at 12:30 pm. These balloons will be stored in the team’s bucket during the fight and can only be used by that team. The GRiT tent will also have a poster board of the current totals displaying on race day.

    Our Charities

The money collected during the event will not only fuel GRiT’s future endeavors but will also contribute to the She Sends Foundation. This inspiring program works to diversify the mountain biking community and helps with the means to get more women on bikes. These donations will be put into grants for teams and organizations to supply more riders with bikes and appropriate gear. For more information, please visit She Sends Foundation.

    Team Buckets

Another creative team activity will be customizing their team's bucket, which will be used to store the team’s balloons. This could be an actual bucket, but coolers and bins work just as well! The design must include the team’s name, and the most creative design will win the design challenge for a prize! Reminder: you do not have to decorate your bucket, but having a bucket is mandatory to participate. (Tip: Covering the design in clear tape while taping it to the bucket will make it waterproof.)

    Clean Up Challenge

Once the fight is over, it’s extremely important to leave the venue as clean as it started! To add even more fun to the event, GRiT will be conducting the Clean Up Challenge. Teams will work together to collect as much balloon material off the battlefield and into their team bucket within the designated time limit. The winning team, which collects the most material, will earn a prize for their whole team to use!

    Awards

There will be prizes awarded to the team with the most amount of money raised, the team that collects the most amount of balloon trash, and the team with the best decorated bucket.
