A TTC Captain is a student-athlete who shows real commitment to caring for trails and outdoor spaces by leading a meaningful project—similar to an Eagle Scout or Gold Award project. TTC Captains make a difference through projects that support outdoor recreation, like trail work, environmental care, accessibility improvements, fundraising, education, or social media advocacy. Their efforts strengthen local trails and parks, build community pride, and grow leadership skills that last far beyond their time on the team. TTC Captains will be recognized through PICL communications and honored at the End of Season Awards.

When can student-athletes submit the Project Proposal Form? Project Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis. Who may apply to become a TTC Captain? Any middle or high school student-athlete actively registered with PICL. Is there a time frame for submission of the Project Completion Report & Documentation Form? There is no time frame for completion of the project but seniors must submit the completion form by September 31st of their final NICA season. Do projects need to be completed within a certain time frame? No. A project can take as much or little time as needed to complete it successfully. What counts as a project? TTC Captain project ideas are limitless. Some examples might include: - trail improvement (i.e., drainage, re-route, berming, etc.)
- trailhead kiosk
- trail signage or mapping
- bike maintenance stand
- trail organization social media campaign
- trail network fundraiser
- trail advocacy newspaper article
- and much more!
Who may serve as the Coach Advisor? Any actively registered PICL Coach may serve as the Coach Advisor. The Coach Advisor does not need to be a Head Coach or Team Director, nor do they need to have be engaged in the trail project, itself. May a parent serve as the Coach Advisor? No. A parent may not serve as the Coach Advisor. For independent riders who are not connected with a local team, who may serve as the Coach Advisor? Independent riders can reach out to teentrailcorps@pamtb.org to explore appropriate advisor options. Does achievement of TTC Captain status award bonus points? No. Do TTC Captain Project hours count toward reportable TTC hours in Pit Zone? Reportable TTC hours in Pit Zone are hours a student-athlete spends actively working on trails. If the approved TTC Captain Project includes active trail work, the hours spent directly working on trails may be reported in Pit Zone. TTC Captain Project hours that do not include active trail work may not be reported in Pit Zone. I have additional questions. Who do I contact? Please send questions to teentrailcorps@pamtb.org.
