DENISE STUMPF has always loved the outdoors and the freedom that comes with being on a bike, but she didn’t discover mountain biking until her son joined a local team and her husband became a coach. Inspired by the sport’s welcoming community and inclusive nature, she decided to give it a try and quickly developed a passion for mountain biking and eventually became a Level 3 NICA coach on her son’s team.

An educator for more than 25 years, Denise saw firsthand the confidence and belonging mountain biking gave her son, inspiring her to start a team at the school where she teaches. Watching her students experience that same growth led her to join PICL’s Outreach and Team Development team, where she helps start and grow youth mountain bike teams across Pennsylvania so more students can discover the joy and lifelong benefits of riding.

In addition to her team development work, Denise is also PICL’s Merchandise Manager, where she brings league pride to life through fun gear that turns heads and sparks smiles. During the summer, Denise serves as PICL’s Summer Camp Activities Director, combining her background in education with her creativity to design engaging experiences for campers. Denise lives in southeastern Pennsylvania with her husband and son.
