DCNR Loaner Bikes: Let’s Get Kids Riding
Teams — this is your chance to remove barriers and grow your roster.
Through the 2026 DCNR Loaner Bike Program, teams can apply for up to 5 Trek Marlin mountain bikes to support riders and coaches in need.
This could mean:
A new rider who doesn’t yet own a bike
A student-athlete ready to level up
A new coach joining your team
Equipment support for a growing program
Deadline extended to March 13, 2026. 👉 Apply Now.
A Program That Removes Barriers
To date, PICL has supplied qualifying teams with over 230 mountain bikes, helping lower the barrier for new riders to become involved in league activities.
The program began in 2022 with support from Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and Trek Bicycle Corporation.
In 2025 alone, 11 teams received loaner bikes and picked up their fleets of Marlin 6 bikes from local Trek stores across Pennsylvania — and the positive impact is being felt.
A special shout-out to Pearson Bruhns, a former varsity rider and now Level 1 Coach, who works at the Trek store in Wayne. He not only built the bikes — he delivered them directly to the team at practice.
Real Impact on Real Teams
Along with Delco Revolution, teams like Pittsburgh North, Ruach, and BCYC are using these bikes during:
Try-It events
Skills clinics
Early season practice days
These bikes don’t just sit in storage — they create entry points.
“Everyone at Delco Revolution is incredibly grateful to DCNR, Trek, and PICL for making this happen and giving the kids in our community the fantastic opportunity to ride quality bikes on our local trails. Thank you!”
How the Application Works
Applications open every February
Teams are selected by mid-April
Head coaches and team directors apply on behalf of their teams
This is a powerful way to expand access and strengthen your program before the season even begins.
